Hamlet Is Somehow Part Of All Humans Philosophy Essay

Hamlet is somehow part of all humans. He resembles us in one or another way in this life. Despite the fact that Hamlet is a fictional invented character, he is extremely human and thus not that far altered from the rest of us. Who does not sense, at certain times, that you have many problems and cannot handle it? Who does not procrastinate or delay things? Who does not question or doubt his own motives, or question his purpose in life? As Hamlet declares he is “too much i’ the sun”, so he is like a human, thus he is just like the rest of us. We, too, agonize from our bad fortune. We have reflected on the movements we must take, considering them in contradiction of what we can lose.  In fact, one of the reasons of Hamlet play’s popularity is the method Shakespeare describes the character Hamlet to demonstrate the complex mechanisms of the human thoughts.

First of all, Hamlet’s state of mind affected his decisions that he made later on as it affected many humans. Hamlet’s dilemma started when the ghost appeared. The ghost says,” revenge his foul and most unnatural murder” (1.5.24). Hamlet’s dilemma is whether he should kill Claudius or not. As the play develops, Hamlet does not

take an action and fulfill his revenge desire when the chance offers itself. it is an excuse Hamlet uses it trying to explain his delay. So, it becomes apparent that Hamlet’s state of mind affected his decision which led to his death. His procrastination made him delay his revenge which was one of the flaws of Hamlet. One’s state of mind affects significantly which is similar to humankind. Humanity is affected by the state of mind which has a great impact on decisions. Also, hamlet’s flaw- procrastination- is greatly similar to humankind as we all procrastinate at some point in our lives and it is not preventable. Hamlet’s procrastination did not allow him to kill Claudius as soon as possible which caused Hamlet’s death at the end. Likewise, for humankind, procrastination never ends up with good results and leads to something bad. Secondly, in humans, there is always this desire to take revenge and gain back what was taken from you. Hamlet’s loss of his father created a strong desire to gain revenge from his uncle. His solution to satisfy this desire could be different from humans; however, we still have this desire to take revenge. Hamlet says, “Haste me to know’t, that I, with wings as swift As meditation or the thoughts of love, May sweep to my revenge” (1.5.7). Hamlet’s first reaction to his father’s murder is revenge. Although, Hamlet seemed to be a good person, he had this flaw which is the desire for revenge and that is part of humanity. As Francis Bacon says, “Revenge is a kind of wild justice,

which the more a man’s nature runs to.” So, nobody can deny the fact that humans have this desire for revenge, even if it is small. Thirdly, discovering our purposes in this life is one of the most common pathways for all humans. Sometimes, we have those moments where we doubt our motives and purposes in this life. Since the dawn of time, man has questioned life. Similarly, hamlet questioned life and how it flows, as he says, “To be, or not to be: that is the question”(cite it). Hamlet could not handle the problems he has in life. So, he questioned his purpose in life. he thought about committing suicide, but religion prevented him which many of us do. However, Hamlet’s interruption of life is what matters. We, all human, have problems in life and at some point; we see that we can no longer continue with the pain. Patience is human’s feature. However, at some point, humans collapse. Likewise, after the problems Hamlet faced, made him question his desire in this life and if it really is worth living. Fourthly, who would not be angry if his mother was married shortly after his father’s death? Angriness is part of humanity and what makes us humans. Feeling that parents would let you down makes humans angry. Hamlet says, ” A little more than kin and less than kind.”(1.2.). it is apparent that Hamlet is angry because she married his uncle too early. This is one of human’s reactions to this specific situation. So, it is very obvious that Hamlet has many features of humans that make us to a great extent similar to him.
